A leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software, UGS PLM Software, a division of Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D), has selected international payroll software and services expert, Patersons, to provide the new payroll system for its 1700 staff in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Patersons’ web-based CloudPay system will standardise and simplify payroll operations across 13 countries, providing a single payroll processing solution to run alongside UGS PLM Software’s SAP (ERP) HR implementation.
UGS PLM Software’s payroll is currently outsourced on a country-by-country basis. Moving to a single payroll provider will significantly reduce the quantity of manual processes and duplication of effort involved in servicing UGS PLM Software’s EMEA payroll operations for countries where headcount ranges from under 10 to around 600. Financial and management reporting will be dramatically improved at the business unit and group level, enabling UGS PLM Software to make better informed strategic decisions and offer increased control and efficiency. The system is going live in phases, with countries including Germany, UK, Czech Republic and Slovakia already implemented and Israel going online later this year.
Paul Vogel, UGS PLM Software senior vice president and managing director, Europe, Middle East and Africa., “We decided to centralise our payroll management company on a single contract, whereby one vendor will have responsibility for managing local vendors. Adopting this new payroll system gives us increased visibility for payroll-related information.”
Martin Stockton, Vice President for Global Business Development at Patersons, added, “Implementing our CloudPay payroll system is allowing UGS to progressively streamline its payroll workflow and to make the associated processes more controlled and more transparent. It will also help to overcome difficulties which the company encounters in accessing historical data; this is sometimes only available from the payroll provider or in hard copy, making preparing group reports very labour intensive. The new software will also save significant amounts of time as it will enable automated data transfer between UGS PLM Software’s SAP and our CloudPay software; we’re working with the UGS PLM Software SAP implementation team to ensure that we’re getting the right data in the right format and with the right timing.”
Patersons recently invested in new senior level staff for its global strategic management team to support its rapid international expansion; the company’s turnover has grown by 200 per cent in 2006/07 and Patersons is on schedule become the leading software as a service company globally in HR and payroll.
